Birthdays are celebrated with a birthday chart reading that encapsulates your year ahead. This is one of the hidden gems in Vedic Astrology; the ability to prepare yourself for all that this year, birthday-to-birthday, brings to you.
In Vedic Astrology we have two charts; one for the lunar return birthday and one for the solar return birthday. At different times, the moon will make its way back to the exact position in the sky where it was stationed the moment you where born, and similarly the Sun will cross this position it occupied. This is the significance behind ‘ Solar return’ and ‘lunar return’ birthday events.
In India, the ‘Day’ you where born- say January 6th- is not the day you celebrate your birthday each subsequent year. Instead, that day you were born shows where your moon was positioned and each birthday is celebrated when the Moon crosses that portion of the sky, and when it does, that day is when the birthday is celebrated. This could fall on the month prior or proceeding if you were born near the beginning or end of a month. You never know, and have to check your own Moon’s position.
